Thread: Government saltwater fishing registry

    Default Government saltwater fishing registry

New rules Jan 1 2010 for those who fish saltwater in seashore states have to register either with the Federally approved State Licensing system or if the State has no licensing system, with the Federal government at this website.
    https://www.countmyfish.noaa.gov/
This year, registration with the Feds is free.
If you fish in MA, NH, and Maine, like I do, you have to register with the Feds..

    Here's the FAQ
    https://www.countmyfish.noaa.gov/faq_registry.html

Here's a map that explains which states require Federal registration to fish on their shores or waters off their shores.
    https://www.countmyfish.noaa.gov/abo..._registry.html

You don't have to report your catch (yet) but you do set yourself up for a random phone call to ask you about your fishing habits....
Can anyone foresee a ban on recreational saltwater fishing? Or is that just thinking the sky is falling again?

Oh dear, it's the slippery slope you know, you're heading straight for what I live with. Permits for this, payments for that. Get voting now, before you lose the freedom we once had!

Florida enacted saltwater licenses regs this year. :-( they want a cut for anything you do that feeds you and if they don't get it you are fined so they still get their cut.

If your state already has licensing set up you don't have to register with NOAA.
It's the tourists up here who are gonna get bent.

Wonder if you'll need to show a license to buy bait next? And have a waiting period for that new Shimano reel?

There are times I swear that they are pushing to try and evoke a mass violent response just so that they can declare marshal law.
