I wouldn't think it would be too risky. Like you said, fruit has a lot of juice/water.

A little research and it turns out my state doesn't have a minimum draw weight for small game. So I might be able to sneak a bow out later this winter lol

My girlfriend wants to take up archery, and i thought about buying her a little beginner setup ... she played with one and was struggling with the 25lb draw weight, so...

nice fish... its a Red Breasted Sunfish 8611 they are fun catches. i get the lightest gear possible and and fight them as often as i can. a local creek is packed with them.
I have used that method before, mainly on ponds and slow moving creeks. Its great for a bunch of fish in my area (blue gills, red eye bass, large mouth, etc) ... Best of Luck on those trout, keep me...
