Wow, that sounds like it would be something good to eat, even when you are not in the wilderness. Smoked fish, yum.
Gee, I don't know. They look similar to clams. I would think you could, but I am not the expert.
I think a strong cord is a very good thing to carry with you in the wilderness for many reasons.
When I was a kid, I gut stuck in quicksand! Luckily, it was near a road and someone happened to be driving by! They saw me sinking and screaming and pulled me out in time!
I think a loud scream can work wonders. Are you just going to happen to have this whistle when you need it? You have to find it, blow in it, etc.... I would have screamed by then.
Another way to start a fire is by using a glass or a piece of mirror to catch the sun's rays and direct it to paper or even dry leaves to catch fire.
Yeah, but how easy is it to do that - isn't it very time-consuming and tiring? I guess if you didn't have a choice, it's good to know.
How would that even happen? I don't understand. Wouldn't there be someone around, or even some type of authorities if this is a tourist spot?
I never even thought of that one - I think that one would probably take some research and lots of practice.
I think it is important to know what poisonous snakes are native to your area. This can be helpful if you get bit by one, because it may not be as much of a cause for alarm. I say this, but I know...
Portable TV's, Radio's and plenty of batteries! You need to be able to catch the news.
I guess I just have been using an old box for everything, and they pretty much keep ok in there.
I remember in school we had some classes on what was edible if we were ever lost in the wilderness. I guess if I got hungry enough, I would probably start eating anything to survive, but some of the...
If it were just about calories, I could probably go for a year without eating.
Well, those are good, too, but what if you are in a place where no-one can see what is going on - wouldn't you want to make some noise?
I love the taste of crawfish, as long as it is in a prepared dish. It takes too long to pick out the good meat since they are so small.
I never heard of that, but it sounds to me like a good thing to have. You can never have enough of that kind of stuff when you are out there on your own, and a whistle would be very handy.
I am really not familiar with this - would this be to hunt animals? I think you would be right, then.
I guess I will take this opportunity to introduce myself here, as well. I have 2 children, 1 girl, 23 and a boy, 15 and even though my kids are 'bigger" we still love doing things together. I love...
