only gone out in winter once, complete failure. faulty roof on shelter (due to lack of experience from my brother and friend.) therefore soaking wet all night.

i never gave much thought into it, because usually when winter hits i forget about wild edibles and turn to trying to get my snares and...

yep, i told them from the get go, and kept ranting the entire time. that all i wanted was a good roof over head and a fire. heck, i would have even settled for a lean-to even though it's not the best...

i live in brampton ontario, i usually go up north around barrie/lake simcoe area to practice. and if i travel a little further north and i'd bump into wareagle :D
trax i have the same problem, i can't make fires at the places i like to go to. the locations i practice at end up being either privately owned land, protected land, nature reserves, conservation...

i think of myself as a 5 or 6. probably closer to a 5, need to learn more about wild edibles. only really confident with identifying 4 or 5 plants.
he doesn't light a signal fire during the day because whats the use of him going out there to film if he will be 'rescued' on the second day. that would be a 10 minute episode after editing is done....

i've tried it, but i only got the same result as when i use the fire plow, lots of smoke but no ember, and really tired arms. need more practice. thats why my mag. flint stick is my number one right...
have yet to be successful using the bow drill, and hand drill....lots o'smoke but no ember..argh. hoping to get a fire piston soon and try that out. but i mainly use a mag. flint stick.
So....what's your favourite bush tea?

maybe the fact that they are WILD :P but mostly the fact that they are not used to seeing humans and don't know what we are so they may get defensive and may act aggressive as a way to warn us not...
