Sawfly larvae is probably what they're after. The dust might be diatomaceous earth. I use it to keep slugs off my beans.
#1 looks like Sorbus, one of the cultured ones. There's lots of wild ones in my area of the province, Mountain Ash with orange berries.
Who said that people would starve without honeybees? Still doesn't negate the fact that most of the food I grow in my garden has no more genetic origin there than a honeybee. Ocean or no ocean. By...
Your giving North America a lot of credit for Mesoamerica and Highands and Lowlands of South America. Where you went off on DDT I don't know but knock yourself out.
The only crops domesticated from North America are blueberry, cranberry, pecan, sunflower, plum and teary bean, the rest have only been improved here. The week@ss insecticide .............. I'll...
Like honeybees most of the worlds major food crops where never domesticated in North America either. Still sucks if industrialized agriculture is responsible for their demise.

Unfortunately I've never seen the show .........yet, (no tv). That's quite an accomplishment for you, good stuff!
Low visibility this morning. The prevailing winds are out of the west. I'm not sure if it's fog or smoke rolling in from Maine and Massachusetts ....... best go stand outside.LOL!
I'm surprised to hear that about Pennsylvania. We have allot of restrictions when it comes to firearms but we've always been able to use a semi for hunting. I often listen to people doing nothing...
No doubt the lad can make a real nice bow to.
Fresh, local and organic, those are three words that get tossed around and loosely defined by industrial food producers. I wonder how much food contamination was around before modern refrigeration?
Years ago when age was starting to catch up my doctor gave me some advice, he said " keep moving". At the time I never really understood what he meant. Another coffee and it's off to the wood...
I pretty well get consumed by the work part and the need to get somthing done. At present 4 to 5 days to chunk, split and pile next winters heat. The garden is after that. Running after dogs covers...

The Stan Rogers Folk Festival is having it's 20th Anniversary this year and iv'e made just about everyone of them. I hate dating myself but my 45th Anniversary is coming up. Three years left....

I don't have tv but listen to This Is That on the radio. Here's another bit of satire.
