I didn't know other whistles don't work when they're wet. I'd hate to learn that the hard way!
:eek: Yuck! I didn't know that. As a general rule, I always cook meat very thoroughly.
Reminds me of all the fires I've started as a kid using a magnifying glass. :)

Isn't there an herb you somehow use to purify water? I read about it somewhere...but I can't remember where! It's going to bug me now....
Around here, we have a lot of rattlesnakes. Most bite happen when people step on them, we always wear boots in the brush, especially summer evenings.

We use a safe for our important papers--and for cash. I'm pretty sure it is fireproof. :)
Good luck! It is great. We only have a gas generator as a backup, which we never use because we're fortunate to live in sunny AZ. Next year we're adding a wind turbine to our system.
