Thinning Brass Polish
Cold, wet, miserable snow starting, time to do stuff inside.
Dug up as many .308 cases as I can find and running them through the case cleaner.
I have been using Cabelas' polishing liquid in the media for years but the bottle I have has jelled with age. It has taken the consistency of thick mayonnaise. It was like chocolate milk when new.

Anyone know what to use to thin this stuff?

Cabelas ad says......" Lifetime Guarantee"
Give them a call?
Actually I would think it would be water soluble...otherwise it would leave a film....

I wish I could give you an idea. I have never used any of that stuff with any definitive results. I just tumble in corn cob until clean. I don't worry about shine. I tried several things one time including vinegar. That was a disaster. Got one or two more firings out of that brass.
What are the ingredients in the Cabela's stuff?

The ingredients are not listed, that is why I am digging for info.
The only thing it says is that it does not contain ammonia.
I decided to dilute it with some mineral spirits and discovered the bottle had a split in the side. That was a mess!
I poured it into a bigger bottle and proceeded. It seemed to work after a fashion.
I cycled about 200 cases through the vibrator tumbler and then sorted them by maker.
I will start sizing brass and reloading tomorrow. Too cold to do much of anything else. Snow is down, 30 mph wind is blowing. Great day to build some ammo.
After this is finished I will start casting bullets. I have about 500 empty 30-30 cases that need a purpose in life.

Sounds like the makings of at least two good weekends. One, making the ammo, another shooting it. Have fun.
