Here's one of my favorites. https://blog.nfb.ca/blog/2013/08/22/...the-bush-1954/
You don't get any more real than Angus Baptiste.
I have watched the OP video and it's good but prefer cabin builds and such from a low cost perspective. It's not hard if you have the cash.
There is youtuber that built a offgrid cabin for 300 bucks and did it while working a full time job. It's not as fancy or dramatic so it won't get the exposure some others do. But doing it without much money or time or resources is awesome.
Here some other good videos, I have no links but with google it's a click away
The Happy People, a year in the taiga
snowshoes and solitude by Les Stroud
Dick Proenneke One mans wilderness
The cree hunters of Missittissi that is a nfb production
The videos made by Shawn James building his log cabin and all the subsequent videos he has made regarding living alone and surviving out in the Canadian back country in Ontario, are outstanding. James is a highly skilled craftsman, an excellent video maker and editor, and outdoorsman.
His videos are very interesting. I've watched perhaps 25 of them and have not been bored yet.
FWIW.

Sorry for bumping an old thread but, the best videos about living alone are the Alone In The Wilderness Series about Dick Proenneke. He went to Alaska and built a cabin. He didn't carry an axe, he carried an axe head, fell a tree with it, then used the head to make a handle.. His videos are full of stories as simple as that.
You can sometimes catch the videos on the Discovery Channels and other channels as well. Look for Alone In The Wilderness.
You'll find a ton of references on here about Dick. Just do a search.
Here are 42 threads where he is mentioned if you are interested. http://www.wilderness-survival.net/f...archid=8696471
