Kinfolks 380 Re-build
Found a Kinfolks 380 at a flea market....kinda sad shape.........$6 bucks.

Looks like the leather disks are pretty bad...but I like the design.

Little steel shank, brass nut was kinda stuck, rusty....had to sacrifice a screw driver to make a wrench to remove the nut.
Had been soaking it....so with the help of a punch, got it loosened up.

I guess I need to start looking for replacement disks......
BTW, came in a Kershaw sheath......

Here you go Hunter.

That knife looks like a knock off of the old Marbles pattern.
Should clean up to be a good knife.

Scrap leather works as well as the stamped and punched leather....just a little more work. I can send you some if you need it.
-
Actually have a 1/2 cowhide (pretty thick) left from other projects.......
Maybe make a punch from a piece of 3/4 or 1" pipe....looks like the pieces are 1-1/2 and 1-1/4......Made a punch to make nice smooth gasket holes....in my leather working stuff.
Like the idea of the stacked birch bark....
The blade is pitted...and looks like some on wire brushed it some......and I really don't mine that look....has "Puce" as we used to say in our rondy crowd...was supposed to be "patina"...but some one screwed up and called it "puce" ....
So as a joke...puce it was....As in, "man you puce'd that up"....LOL.
Rebuild a trench knife and just cleaned up the disks and reoiled them....
Does look like a Marbles....we will see.....
So like all good wilderness survivalist......gotta go watch some Youtubes.......
That was picked up and used by others.

Nice project.
Someone gave me a shopping bag of cheap knives. I guess they got tired of having them. Now I have them somewhere.

Lots of neat information on the internet about Kinfolks.
Seems it was a company founded by cousins as a sideline for the Case company. Started in the 1920s and operated through the 1960s. Stayed in the family for the whole time so it was a bunch of Kinfolks producing them.
They made some nice classic blades.
