Congratulations. Well done - you are no longer a flint & steel virgin.
Nice, congrats.
Valuable skill....thanks for posting.
A for real flint and steel as well, nice job......
You did good. One more tool in the tool box.
Thanks everyone.
It's been fun trying to master this kind of fire, then I realized that there is no "mastering" of fire, just lots of practice. :)
Yeah, well, when you think you have mastered something.... that's when it won't work, next time... no matter what you do.....like riding a motorcycle,...when you think you got it mastered, that when you fall on your azz.
Work and practice, work and practice...Nice job.
Yep. Just when you think you have fire mastered you burn down the kitchen.:innocent:
good job!!!!
I can't watch the video because my computer is messed up, but this thread inspired me to break out my flint and steel and give it another try (I've had no luck before). After a couple strikes I managed to catch a spark on some char cloth! Thanks for the inspiration! (didn't make it into a full fledged fire, they probably wouldn't think highly of me starting a fire in the middle of campus regardless of the method....)
Well the fire trucks just went by, luckily they passed the dorm.... Wasn't me... I swear....
They were probably on their way to Wisconsin.
Congrats on the newfound skill, you have now been voted onto the island:scared:
Hey now......
There was a time while attending the big rendezvous in Prairie du Chen, WI.....few of us went on a road trip to a couple of saloons (What?)...in full buckskins.
Guy at the saloon thought it was cool that we were lighting our smokes with our fire kits... flint/steel/charcloth....One of the guys was selling the kits off his trade blanket, so gave one to the bar owner....to play with.
Fast forward to the following year....same road trip, same saloon, same owner/bartender....walked in, he says, you guys better watch out for my wife if she come in.....shes mad at y'all.
So we asked why, and he says, "Well, I was showing her how the fire steel and flint worked, down here at the end of the bar, and a spark hit the curtins and just about burned the bar down......She's still mad'.
