That is an interesting way of doing things. Kinda a neat really!
It reminds me of a Swedish Torch, I just haven't seen one made of a log.
that is cool looking
I drill a hole in the center and make a single X across the log. You just light the candle and drop it into the hole and stand back.
A good sized log like that will burn most of the night.
I make a bunch of them each year and throw one in the trailer for each camp.
Swedish torch log style?
I have seen em made with bundles of smaller logs using a half length one in the center.
Once burning you can use the top to cook on like a stove sort of.
Also serves to get the flame off of wet stuff like swamp or snow.
Thad.
they do work real good in the snow, this one lit up with a candle applied for less than 1 minute. it burned really well for a few hours while i made a pot of tea and had some supper

Seen a few, never made one....thanks for posting, cool.
Stump seems nice and dry.
Like the batoning with a chain saw, now that my style...arg, arg,arg more power.
That is so cool.. i will be doing that...
Here's a crude one we set up. Sharpened four medium sized logs and hammered into the ground. Definitely better to saw the top ends.
