i recall making and playing with these when I was in my teens and recall I could throw them pretty accurately. With stones, they seem lethal or good to entrap. Has anyone hunted with them?

My state is very specific concerning the equipment that may be used to take game.
A bolo is not on the approved list.
I am sure they would be effective since they were used globally during the late stone age. In southeastern Native American sites they are common grave goods with only the three smooth round stones as evidence of their existence.
Some of the stones are small and give evidence that they were used for bird hunting, throwing the bolo into one of the massive and dense flocks of birds present during those times.
Like any other primitive weapon they have a learning curve that generally improves with practice.
