  1. oh nvm, i just found out its $300

even still, i might consider going. $300 is actually cheap compared to some of the other wilderness survival type events ive seen around
  2. hey man. im not sure if you ever log on here anymore

    but i found this:

    http://www.buckeyegathering.net/home.html

its right by where you live. its a few months aways, but im probably gonna go to it. its free as far as i can tell.

    just thought id share
  3. hey
so i got fire with a bowdrill in ohio
and im back in CA now

i was planning on trying it here
i was doing some research and found this page

    http://www.primitiveways.com/fire_materials.html

thought it might be helpful for you as well

i might not even bother with the bowdrill here and go straight to trying a handdrill
the bowdrill was kinda a pain in the ***
    lol
  4. yeah 300 acres is tiny
its basically just the space between 2 developments
but im happy to have it there anyways
theres not alot of trail going through it, so its pretty private, but its big enough to support turkey and some deer

    the fire is pretty neat
ill have to try that some time
  5. yeah, ive done that too
my house is right along a 300 acre forest

my backyard actually goes down into the forest

its owned by HARD (hayward area recreation parks blah blah), and fires are illegal down there
    but ive made a couple/.

im always super worried that the smoke might begiving away my position

is annadel park flat at all?
the only reason my forest even exist, is because its so hilly and steep that they couldnt put houses in there. makes for a very interesting hike/climb
  6. hey, where do you hike around? like a state park or something? are you allowed to make fires in those types of places?
  7. oh wait,
    they might be wood strawberries

    apparently they grow around here
  8. hmm
    damnit
theres quite a few of them
    so now im curious
    theyre only ground cover
    no bushes
at least not that i saw of
  9. Hey man
do you have any idea what kind of berries these might be?

i thought maybe they were salmonberry.
