Katherine Pawling should have to pick up the tab. I'd be happy with it, even though I'm not Canadian. Bet if she was spending her money to rescue them it would turn out different.

Remember the Exxon Valdez oil spill? We spent something like $80,000 per seal to rehab them and in some big ceremony to release a few of them a killer whale ate two!

When I was serving, I would never consider endangering myself or one of my people for an animal!!! A human life is worth far more than some stupid animal that gets it self in trouble.

Uh, I've never heard of a duck getting frozen into a lake. I guess I should call 911 for the 25 or so geese that were in the lake yesterday. Of course, if they DID get frozen in that would make duck hunting a lot easier. Just wait and then pluck.

If they are worried about predators eating them, why don't they go after whoever clipped their wings?

(Walks off mumbling) Risking rescuers lives, over some dumb ^&*%*^%&%*

I was thinking the same thing......be my luck I'd go out after one, fall thru the ice, and 911 would to busy rescuing ducks........ Well you get the picture.

Don't fool with mother nature, clipping wings, rescuing ducks......
