I've never used one,but I do have a hammock that I've thought would make a decent net/sein in an emergency.
It will and a good deep net as will

thinking of making a net from palmetto leaves. they are all fibrous i think that if i were to strip small strips of the leaves i could weave them together somehow just by practice and have a pretty basic netting and catch fish using some kind of bait. IE food shineys or light during the night. i guess we will see when i have the chance. although i have no clue what i would use to make one in Colorado. tons of pines up there but pine needles are pretty brittle as far as i know...

Well i made a platform out of plywood. on this i attatched a small trigger piece of wood. i angles it between the bow and the board so that with any force put on any part of the board, it was released. the other end of the trigger stick was attatched to my old bow. it pulled about 10lbs. i attatched it to a tree and to a small arrow like stick. the stick went in as an arrow and the net was attatched to the arrow. the arrow shot the net at the grouse that went on the platform to eat the bait (usually grain). It's kinda hard to explain, but if you want, i could send you some more info.
