View Full Version : Second Thoughts.........

So I'm looking at all these new acquisitions..........

S&W .357 Model 18-3

Bryco .380 Auto Model 38

Remington .22 s/l/lr Model 514

Remington .22 s/l/lr Model 12C

Mossberg .22 s/l/lr Model 340B-A

None were loved. None were cared for. All have rust - except for that Bryco, which was a dangerous piece of crap the day it was manufactured.

I was gonna' dump them all. Now, I'm wondering..........:innocent: Do they deserve a second chance? Except for the Bryco, which I'm gonna' have melted down because it was a dangerous piece of crap the day it was manufactured.

I think I may be becoming attached to them. :innocent: Except for the Bryco, which I'm gonna' have melted down because it was a dangerous piece of crap the day it was manufactured.

Should I clean these guys up and give them a good home? Except for the Bryco, which I'm gonna' have melted down because it was a dangerous piece of crap the day it was manufactured. Or should I sell them?

Hold on there partner! Clean them up. Even the Bryco can be traded for something when the SHTF.

Great Idea! (I didn't need much convincing. :blushing:) I was holding them for safekeeping and transfer to specific individuals - none of whom, it turns out, can own a firearm. So the client got sick of the whole ordeal, and asked me if she could just give them to me and get it over with. And me, being the kind and helpful kinda' guy that I am......... :innocent:

And I see you share my opinion on the Bryco, huh? :)

With my luck, the guy would turn around and shoot ME with it. If I'm gonna' get shot, it better be with a decent gun and not some piece of junk that was a dangerous piece of crap the day it was manufactured. :innocent:

I like my S&W .357 and my mossberg.
Now for my savage 30.06 you can melt it down with your Bryco, which I'm gonna' have melted down because it was a dangerous piece of crap the day it was manufactured.
I have always had problems with the firing pin, but one day while loading a bullet into the chamber it fired, always keep the rifle pointed into a safe direction has always been a must for me. Oh the rifle has never left the gun cabinet since.

I've got a few POS's, not bryco's but just as bad. It's the same with tools. You don't buy them but, somehow they're yours. I'm going to trade mine for something, anything! A dozen eggs is better than a poke in the eye.

I had to look up Bryco. Its a Jennings. Now I understand. I have a Jennings .22 auto. The first shot is a sure thing. The second shot is about 95% After that its gonna jam. It does have its uses though....

Bryco, Jennings, Jimenez, Raven.......... all the same outfit. All garbage. :sneaky2:

Can you clarify your opinion on the Bryco? It seems to have gotten muddled in the posts?

I own three Raven .25s and I just love them. They are small, lightweight, compact, and can easily be thrown at any would be attacker.

Possibly with more lethality than actually shooting them?

If you clean 'em hard enough and long enough the serial numbers get hard to read. Or so I've heard.

Clean them up, repair and refinish them. Then decide to keep them, give them away, or trade them off. There ain't many things more satisfying than restorin' an old firearm (except maybe for restoring an old vehicle).

yeah, that Bryco 38 doesn't seem to be much of an asset, but it's still a gun. anything that will discharge a round in roughly the direction pointed has at least some value.

as such, i'm prepared to offer you a hand made knife and two bits of string for it.

The nice thing about the Bryco (and Ravens) is no matter where you point it everyone surrenders.

I'm not even sure if you can transfer one of them into California. :innocent:

probably not.

the only approve handguns for import on a model my model basis. it's a staggeringly short list.

The stock needs to be repaired and refinished. (This pic comes from the web.)

nice rifle. what kind of shape is the barrel in?

with only cosmetic damage and properly restored, those are kinda valuable.

The barrel is lightly rusted in few spots. The stock need some serious repair - somebody tried to nail it together with some finish nails. :sneaky2: It has a few splits, but it should clean up quite well.

i'm thinking of doing a custom stock for my Rossi.

it's not worth a whole lot in terms of collect-ability in the first place, and the factory stock is pretty lack-luster. the finish they put on it obscures what little figure the grain shows.

Ken
12-18-2009, 01:21 PM
canid, some sites say it's worth over $1,000 in mint condition. :innocent: http://www.gunvaluesboard.com/wondering-the-possible-worth-of-my-remington-model-12-c-rifle.-190322.html

The last one was produced in 1929.

$500-1k for a rifle you pick up cheap and restore is valuable in my book.

my only posession worth over a grand would be my bike.

Tell us how you really feel the Bryco, which you should have melted down because it was a dangerous piece of crap the day it was manufactured.
Got a little Jennings 22 auto, seems to work pretty well........to keep you truck from rolling down the hill.
