I have had this M-1 carbine reciever laying around for a while and was wondering what to do with it. I really didn't want to build another .30 carbine, especially with the price of .30 carbine ammo. I thought about some wildcat caliber to get more performance but that means more money. Then it hit me, as I was ordering 7.62x25 ammo for my CZ and Tokarev, a carbine to compliment them. Tokarev ammo is dirt cheap right now. So I pulled out a barrel (.30carbine) and I am going to ream the chamber, open up the face on the bolt and feed this beast using PPS43 magazines.
What do you think?

Ditto, what crash said.
I like the idea....a lot!

...and if you figure out how to get a bigger grip, and hi-cap mags (double stack) working on a tok...let me know. LOL

I think that's a very cool project. Would you be doing the work yourself? There's no way I have that kind of skill. I do have that kind of imagination though.

HEARSAY ALERT - I have heard, from a guy at the range, that you can reload .30 carbine brass using both the powder and bullet from 7.62x25. I have not been able to confirm that. The carbine is .308 and the 7.62x25 is .311 (IIRC)

Pict, the 7.62x25 is .308, the 7.62x39 is .311.
yeah, i'm doing the work myself. it's pretty straight forward. I am farming out some small machining portions of the work just so it's done right the first time.

would it not be better to use a PPSH41 magazine?
not the drum, the stick.

Why? Then I'll tell you why it won't work.
