Mrs. Crash and I went for a stroll today. Here are a couple of pictures from our walk.

The trail through the forest opens up onto the beach. There was a nice breeze. Temps around 80.

The view to the north.

The view to the south – with a little rain off in the distance.

Lots of driftwood.

Inspired by Sourdough’s “Thor” I went in search of a good candidate for a walking stick. Here’s what I found.

Mrs. Crash found some lunch and a beverage.

Came across a couple of Horseshoe crabs and thought – what would Erunk do? Grabbed the tail to make something with it.

Great pics as usual. We're really going to hate you if you post like this come January and February.

I went out for a couple of hours myself. Unfortunately, my wife had the camera. I did kick up 4 deer and probably 18 or so ducks. I have no idea how many squirrels. Pretty brisk this morning. Around 46F when I started out. Plenty of sunshine, though.

Nice pict crash.
Every time I tried to find a beach in Florida they were elbow to elbow with people.
Keep it a secrete so that you can find a place to escape.

Very Nice outing Crash and pics too....I was wondering do you ever see the round seaweed pods that deposit tar on your shoes/feet? I would think it might be good for something like pine pitch is used for. I know once it is on you don't get it off easy. Gees I miss FL.

I have found that if I want the beach to myself - go to one that you cannot drive right up to. Seems as though if you have to walk a bit, most people think that is uncivilized and stay away. Believe me, I ain't complaining.

Man, that is just so wrong....

Beach tar was one of the things I asked about earlier in the week. If you find that you could use it as a fire starter couldn't you?

I haven't seen any beach tar in North Florida for years. I don't know how long it's been, but I'm guessing about 10 years.

That is not a walking stick! That is a club! Looks like something straight outta the flintstones! I'll bet there is plenty of tar down around Cocoa bch. Merrit Island if your ever out that way!

It kind of reminds me of a cobra's head. Not sure when I'll get to it, but it's on the projects list. Here's a side view.

I'm interested to see what you do with that crab tail and husk. I got like 100 ideas running through my head. Got any project ideas for it?

For the coconut - not sure how long it's been floating around the ocean, or where the prevailing tides might have carried it in from. We are a little too far north for coconut palms. I'm thinking cordage from the outter husk, stove/lamp from the inner shell. Of course, my thinking might change. The tail? Since it is hollow, and I see no visible breaks in it (on quick inspection) I was thinking of some sort of writing implement. The quick answer would be weapon - but I'll probably go in a different direction.
