i know mud can be used to armor your skin from mosquito needles. but what about the safety of the mud itself? what if the mud has parasites in it? this would be a really really big issue in south american mainly. but what about north america? does anyone have a listing of all water and dirt born north american parasites? should i boil a pot of mud before i put it on? especially if its from a swamp

There are other natural ways to repel mosquitoes. Does it have to be mud?

Like certain plants you can rub on you. I think I’ve heard catnip (Nepeta cataria ) was one, I’ve heard catnip essential oil is better then deet. Here’s a web site that has more ideas. http://www.stretcher.com/stories/980625b.cfm

hang ripe or over ripe bananas around your camp and all around your hammock
the bats and small birds come eat the bananas and also waste the bug population,
seriously! also citranilla root, is great,,

It grows wild everywhere I’ve ever been, but I’ve never been to Florida.

Rhubard too, and it grows wild pretty much all over the place. Rub the leaves on yourself. I wouldn't go with the mud thing double e, mosquitoes are born in mud often, so it don't slow 'em down much.
