As we all know, tomorrow is the 8th anniversary of the most heinous act of Terrorism on U.S. soil. IMHO it is important that we never forget this cowardice act . To keep it fresh, here is a site that will describe by name , all known vicitms: http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2001/memorial/lists/by-name/

Timeline of Events of Sept. 11th 2001
7:58 a.m. - United Airlines Flight 175 departs Boston for Los Angeles,
7:58 a.m. - United Airlines Flight 175 departs Boston for Los Angeles, carrying 56 passengers, two pilots, and seven flight attendants. The Boeing 767 is hijacked after takeoff and diverted to New York.
7:59 a.m. - American Airlines Flight 11 departs Boston for Los Angeles, carrying 81 passengers, two pilots, and nine flight attendants. This Boeing 767 is also hijacked and diverted to New York.
8:01 a.m. - United Airlines Flight 93, a Boeing 757 carrying 38 passengers, two pilots, and five flight attendants, leaves Newark, N.J., for San Francisco.
8:10 a.m. - American Airlines Flight 77 departs Washington's Dulles International Airport for Los Angeles, carrying 58 passengers, two pilots, and four flight attendants. The Boeing 757 is hijacked after takeoff.
8:46 a.m. - American Flight 11 from Boston crashes into the North Tower at the World Trade Center.
9 a.m. - President Bush arrives at Sarasota, Fla., school for speech. White House chief of staff Andrew Card tells him a plane has crashed into the World Trade Center.
9:03 a.m. - United Flight 175 from Boston crashes into the South Tower at the World Trade Center.
- U.S. Federal Aviation Administration shuts down all New York area airports.
9:05 a.m. - President Bush is visiting a second-grade class when Card whispers to him that a second plane has struck the towers. President delays plans to address the tragedy, deciding to get more information first.
9:21 a.m. - Bridges and tunnels leading into New York City are closed.
9:25 a.m. - All domestic flights are grounded by U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.
9:30 a.m. - President Bush meets privately with National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, who briefs him. He delivers first remarks on the tragedy and asks for a moment of silence for the victims and their families.
9:45 a.m. - American Flight 77 crashes into The Pentagon.
10 a.m. - Aboard Air Force One en route to Louisiana, President Bush calls Vice President Dick Cheney and puts America's military on a high alert status. Sifts through reports from staff, including erroneous report that a car bomb had struck the State Department. Gets news that a plane has crashed near Pittsburgh.
10:05 a.m. - The South Tower at the World Trade Center collapses.
10:05 a.m. - The White House is evacuated.
10:10 a.m. - A large section of one side of The Pentagon collapses.
10:10 a.m. - United Flight 93 crashes in a wooded area in Pennsylvania, after passengers confront hijackers. On passenger, Todd Beamer calls his wife on a cell phone and tells her of the plan to over power the hijackers. The connection remains open after Beamer puts the phone down. Lisa Beamer hears her husband tell the other passengers "Let's roll" signaling the start of the attack.
10:28 a.m. - The North Tower at the World Trade Center collapses.
11:40 a.m. - President Bush arrives at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., where he makes series of telephone calls from a general's conference room. Tells Cheney in telephone call, "It's the faceless coward that attacks." He also talks to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and New York Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y.
1 p.m. - President Bush speaks to the country from a briefing room at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana.
1:15 p.m. - President Bush departs conference room for Air Force One in a camouflaged Humvee. Talks to Cheney again en route to Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska and schedules a 4 p.m. meeting of his national security staff. Also talks to New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Gov. George Pataki. "I know your heart is broken and your city is strained and anything we can do, let me know," Bush says.
3:07 p.m. - President Bush arrives at U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska.
4:36 p.m. - President Bush departs for Washington. En route, he calls first lady Laura Bush and says, "I'm coming home, see you at the White House." Works with aides on his prime-time speech.
6 p.m. (approx) - Leaders and members from both sides of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate make a joint statement on the attacks and end the press conference with the singing of "God Bless America".
7 p.m. - President Bush arrives at White House to prepare for address.
8:30 p.m. - President Bush speaks to nation from The Oval Office

A sad day we must never forget. My youngest daughter was born in December of that year. They now ask me what happened and what I did. I told them I was angry and ready to go to war with these people because I swore to myself that my children were not going to have to live under the fear of being attacked. I know they don't fully understand what all happened that day, and I will not try to hide it from them when they ask. America "got religion" that day but it seems to have faded away. :confused1::confused1:

A truly hard day to remember, thanks to the mods of this forum for your patriotism! I honestly hadn't heard much of a remebrance any where else! But then I do not watch cable tv.

Amen, I still remember waking up a to see the news and my wife calling me at almost the exact time the second plane hit the towers and the almost two minutes of silence over the phone before me or my wife said Ohh my God! I remember that moment so clear, like it was just yesterday. It reminded me when I heard my parents talking about how they remember where they were when President Kennedy was assasinated. God have mercy and continue to bless the USA. Laus Deo!

I was standing in front of a group of students. 8th graders. It was my second year in the classroom, so I was still very new to it. Each room was equipped with televisions that had very limited cable feed - two or three local stations. We had the TV on and were watching quietly while we tried to figure out what had just happened to the first building. In other buildings, other rooms, even other districts - teachers and principals were scrambling to figure out whether or not to censor the information. Protect the kids. Televisions were turned off, kids were redirected to the planned tasks, official responses were written up. While all of that was going on, I just shut my door and waited on them to start asking me questions. Not at all feeling adequate to answering them, but knowing they had to ask and I had to try. Wishing someone would do the same for me. 'Are we safe?' 'Are we at war?' 'Why did they do this?' 'Who did this?' 'What is going to happen next?'

I did not find out about 9-11 till 9-20 When the pilot landed to pick us up from a 12 day Moose/Bear Hunt He started till us this wild story, the more he told, the wilder the story got.....Sadly it was true. "GOD BLESS AMERICA"

I was at another airport talking to a client and one of my subs actually had some of his employees in the pentagon making a delivery when the attack started. Very little went on where I was but the pentagon locked down. Larry couldn't get his guys out for the rest of the day.
The next morning I had $30,000.00 of cancellations.

Just an example of how things have changed. I posted the exact information that is at the beginning of this thread via an email to all employees (this morning at 6:30am)here at the company I am consulting with. At 6:45am,the Manager sent me an email (copy all employees) that it was inappropriate, this was a normal business day and to have me recall the email. Mind you, this is a Department of Defense Contractor. I responded with a colorful and graphic email to him, refusing to recall the email (copy all employees). I have been notified that there will be a disciplinary meeting for me at 10 am today. This is what I live for, felling bean counters, weenies and a** holes. I may be starting my next retirement early. :)

THis will be the third or fourth time for this type of thing. I usually leave them whimpering. Especially since I work for their insurance company and I tell them to shove their opinions up their %^&*()_. By the way , my point of contact that I really work for at the Insurance company would make me look like a real liberal (he has my back). :) He is a retired Marine E-9. :)

Not to worry, they will learn. THey are a bunch of empty suits who will get theirs. Thanks for the concern.

And the issue with copying all the employees may not have anything to do with the subject but with the cost. When I retired, a singe email cost about 2.5 cents, if I remember correctly, when you add in all the costs like electricity, IT loaded labor rate, etc. More than that if you start adding in printed copies. If the contractor is very large the costs can add up quickly.

That is noted, however, I pay for all my IT costs as part of the contract. And Security education and training is part of what I bill them for, and it is a mandatory part of their contract. And since it was compliant with DoD policy and overall corporate policy (this is a field office of about 120 people), they will just have to deal with it. I appreciate your input, but I have heard it from them before and it did not fly. He actually represents a group of 4 managers that don't like to listen, and seem very sensitive about being challenged. 10 minutes to go . :)

I would HOPE that a DoD contractor would hire someone with more PATRIOTIC values than that. If they don't have more sense than that, then maybe they deserve to lose their contract?

A satisfactory conclusion to the meeting (in my opinion)
Went in, and was met by The manager, an HR person and the other three managers .
I demanded that the other three leave, since I do not report to them and it is an HR matter involving personal issue (s). They left.
I sat through about 10 minutes of BS from the manager about him not wanting to have the 9/11 issue brought up all the time and the time it wastes of the other employees. Then the HR person chastising me about my colorful language in my email.
Then I was presented with a writeup for insubordination (again my colorful language in the email), no mention made about the original email commemorating 9/11 that I sent.
My response:
A letter from my employer, advising them of the breach of contract (prohibiting me from performing my contracted tasks), 15 days to correct or a stop work order will be issued and the government customer advised. That shuts down the field office. Also a reminder to them that I am assigned to the site and do not work for them.
A copy of their Corporate email, which requires local security staff (me) to have a 9/11 informative program in place.
Department of Defense Requlation requiring the Security Education program.
And a notice from my attorney advising them that any Personnel issues involving me will be forwarded to him for review.
And because I am a sensitive guy, I left their writeup on the table looked the manager straight in the eye and told him to kiss my a** and walked out.
All in all quite satisfactory (to me)

Oh, he has :) that is how he got his position. And I have no doubt that he will "stab me in the back at his first opportunity ". THat is why I love it here, it is such a good moral booster for the young folks who are afraid for their jobs.

Huh? I don't know about anything you are talking about. Honestly I did a search and the first one That said vBulletin, I linked to. Since it was in the archives I figured cost would rise accordingly but that would still be a cheaper operating cost than what I thought.
I'm just saying the cost of running a forum is a bit more than what that linked site stated.
