KABUL, Afghanistan - "British commandos freed a New York Times reporter early Wednesday from Taliban kidnappers, but one of the commandos and a Times translator were killed during the rescue, officials said."

At least the AP decides to do the responsible thing when it comes to protecting reporters and their families, maybe they will eventually do the same for the troops.

Noticably missing (by chance? or by purpose?) Is a thank you to the troops that risked their lives and the one trooper that did in fact die to free him. His quote "Farrell was quoted as telling Susan Chira, the foreign editor of The Times: “I’m out! I’m free!”
I think they made the decision to withhold the information to :protect their own" because it costs them nothing.
I am so glad , I no longer have to pretend that I have any respect for these slugs in the media.
