I know a lot of folks are being impacted by a loss of their job or by having to work less hours. Sometimes being in the "right" job is key to staying employed. The government publishes an annual review of all jobs, a great definition of those jobs, whether they are projected to grow or decline and what the average income is expected to be.

The embedded link will take you to the Bureau of Labor Statistics webpage that houses all of that information. Choose from the broad category in the left hand menu then step through the classifications until you are at the job that interests you.

This is not only useful if you are interested in changing careers but it also gives you some insight into where your current career might be some years down the road. It would be much better to change jobs on your terms than be forced into that decision because your job was eliminated.

If you are preparing to go to college or go back to college it can also help you decide on which career path is right for you.

I posted this last year so I've updated the link to the 2010/2011 handbook.
