About a half hour ago, I stopped in at a local Bank of America to cash a lousy $200.00 check, DRAWN ON THE BANK OF AMERICA..

I walked up to the counter, and presented the check and my license to the teller.
The teller asked me if I had an account with them. I answered "No."

She then told me that there would be a $6.00 service fee TO CASH THEIR OWN CHECK!

THEN SHE TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD ALSO NEED TO TAKE MY FINGERPRINT IN ORDER TO CASH THE CHECK!!!

That's when all Hell broke loose.

I told her, and the two managers who quickly came over, that I would gladly pay the $6.00 fee and give them my finger print AS SOON AS THE THREE OF THEM PISSED IN A CUP FOR ME BECAUSE I WANTED THEIR DNA JUST IN CASE THE CASH THEY GAVE ME WAS COUNTERFEIT!

On Monday, I start filing complaints, in court and with every regulatory agency I can find. This is absolute bull$hit!

Honestly, I hope Bank of America fails and goes into receivership.

WHOA!!!!! as if a $6 service charge to cash their own check isn't bad enough..... they wanted a fingerprint???!!!!! That is absolutley absurd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do believe there's hope for you yet. You're getting the attitude of us Redneck hillbillies to any hassle we get. Kinda makes some of us proud. Next the pickup with the gunrack and we will slowly work from there.

That makes no sense at all. What they he!! is wrong with these places. Ken I would have reacted the same way, maybe even worse. :) Get my fingerprints my a$$.

Ken, I have had that problem before. So I just open a savings account with $300.00 cash, (It has to be cash or they will hold the account open for 15 days) Cash the check. Then close the account. Then I tell the manager, "Well. that just cost you about $60.00 in employee labor, Have a nice Day".

Another trick we used to do......people would give us a bad check, they knew we could not cash, because they knew they only had $2,450.00 in the account, and they wrote the check for $2,600.00 So we would deposit $150.00 into their account (Which anyone can do) then we cash the check for $2,600.00 which closes their account, and makes all other check outstanding bounce.

I like the second idea. As for the first one, I won't give them any of my business. Watch how much it costs them when I do it my way!

Your signature on the back is fingerprint enough after handing it over not to mention all the prints on the front. They sort them all out if need be I'm sure.:sneaky2:

how would you know they are only 150 bucks short? why not a grand?

I went through that about two years ago. I wanted to cash a petty cash check, for a few hundred dollars. Same deal....they were going to charge me $5. I said "but this check is written on an account in your bank." She told me that it didn't matter, if I didn't have an account with them. I gave her my full name and asked her to see if I had an account. When she told me no, I asked her to check and see who could sign checks or make changes to the business account that the check was written on. She got that "oh sh!t" look on her face, and said "That would be you....sir." That's about the time that I got loud, and told them just what I thought about their bank. She (and the manager), started steppin' and fetchin', and told me that I didn't have to pay the $5. I kept right on going off...telling them that if ONE of my employees had to pay a nickle to cash a check that I wrote them, I'd be in their that day to close both of my business accounts with them.

For months after that, they pretty much kissed my butt, when I walked in to that place.

I used to be you could just call and ask if you were a business you call and say, I want to know if this check is good. If they say no you just start the game of in between. Pick a different branch, call say I have a check from Wareagle for $2,000.00 is it good. Yes, now you know the number is between $2,000.-- and under $2,600.-- so you just keep at it till you figure it out. (OR you might have a mole in that bank, like your business partners wife)

I see the problem ya'll are having, you havin't been keeping up with the news for the past many years. Ya see, those that own the politicos get the candy and the rest of us get what comes out the other end. Now I'm not saying that I'm against gov. or ... Yes I am, I just don't see anarchy as a workable option, not with the way we humans behave.

It's not just B of A that does this, many other banks do the same. They have been doing it for close to 10 years.

Banks just don't value their customers anymore.

A few years back I tried opening a checking account at a local bank, but they had a policy of doing a credit check, which I promptly failed. I said: "So what? I just want to deposit money & cash payroll checks, Not buy a friggin' car!" The lady manager told me that they had been burned by people with bad credit opening up checking accounts in the past. I asked how, since their computers should tell them if the person had enough money in the account to cover the check. She said: "Well I can assure you sir, it has happened!" I then thanked her from preventing me from opening an account with such a slip-shod financial institution since it was obvious they didn't know how to read their computers! She was still stuttering when I hung up on her.

Our Wally World has a small bank in in it. One day I wanted to cash in some change but was told that since I didn't have an account there that I would be charged 5 bucks. (I only had about $10 in change!) I told them that it would be a cold day in the lake of fire before I opened up an account with a bank that parcticed extortion in order to generate buisness; they didn't like that one either. :cool2:

I agree with Hope. I thought Bragg had logged into Ken's account!

When the office where I worked changed locations, they paid us (the employees) if we helped them. Instead of including it in our direct deposit, we were issued checks. I took the check the wrote me to their very own bank, and they wanted to charge me $5 to cash it. When I raised holy heck, and shamed them, they finally paid me my $200 (or whatever the amount it was) w/o the charge. Seriously, if the check is drawn on their bank, don't you think they ought to know if it's good, and to cash it w/o hassle?

They do it because they can, and there are people (you may have heard them called sheeple) that, when told "those are the rules", will blindly comply. If everybody said NO!, then the practice would stop.

i bank at b of a.a few yrs ago i made a deposit thru the drive thru .i think it was 2 weeks pay.all the tellers new me, i was ask for id i sent my d.l.and bank card to the new girl at the suck-vac tube..i usuely made even deposits and kept the change as pocket money..as the tube came back, i heard her say my name and that i couldnt make a withdrawal for 3 days.i pocket the money and deposit in my pocket,go get lunch,and back to work..i read the deposit slip and see i have 80,000 more than my bank balance.i go to the bank inside teller and open a savings account for the overage took them 5 days to find the money..i get an e-mail and letters.. i let them sweat for a week.. i get good treatment there now, im shure there is a red border on my account now..

Silly rabbits. Credit Unions don't have that problem. Still with a bank? Well, then, I guess you get what you deserve. Credit Unions are member owned. That means the fees are less and they don't do that crappy finger print fee to cash a check stuff.

Sooo.... Ken tell me how you really feel about BOA??? Sounds like they are related to fifth third bank here. Had an account with them BREIFLY!! seems that if you have an account you can use their atm at no charge. You can use their drive up teller no charge. BUT if you go inside to a teller,want to withdraw funds from YOUR account, you have to write a check show 2 forms of I.D. and PAY a $ 6.50 bank usaage fee to cash a check drawn on YOUR acount with THEIR bank.

I had a slight variation on that. My mortgage is with BA. I got some sort of refund check from them (a BA Corporate check). I was on a business trip with an Agent from IRS. We stopped at a BA branch office and I wanted to cash the check, I presented my NJ drivers license (picture) and my Military ID (picture). I did not want to show my FED ID. Got the same BS from the Bank Teller, asked for the Manager got the same crap. Asked for both names, I got them written on paper, put it in my pocket. THen as I sat at the Managers desk, I called my IRS friend over, we both showed our FED Ids, and asked the manager if he still wanted to be such a jerk. It is amazing how fast he cashed the check. Then I asked to use his phone and filed two complaints, one with the State Banking Department and one with BA security office (never heard a word on those complaints). Morale of the story is , make a buddy in IRS or become a FED :) It is shameful what they are doing, imagine what happens with the more timid folks !!!

The minute I have to start giving my finger prints to a place I am giving MY money to (i.e. a bank) is the day I buy a spare mattress to stuff my money into.
