common name black medick, pg 80edible wild plants peterson
funny i have been tripping over this all summer, it looks like a three leaf clover but is not the same as wood sorrel pg 104 plate 15, if you notice the sorrel its three tiny leaves look more like a heart shaped but black medick is more oval shaped with a difinitve line thru the centre also has a hairy stem and little seed pods that turn into little yellow flowers and it turns out i have lots of it, funny i do not recall ever seeing it before in my books, but after a trip to the libary the other day i found a book, entitled common weeds of canada by gerald a mulligan 1976, it has been checked out 30 times since 1980, i will see if i can purchase it as it is another great book, but if you google black medick you will find it a very common plant, i followed the link to an author named arthur lee jackson who is from seatlle has has some excellent plants listed there.
hope this helps
