This is my box oven I made with my grand kids. I chuckle everytime I see it. This is a good project for a kid (with supervision, of course).

I made my first one way, way back when I was a scout.

I wrote an instruction page on my blog if you want to make one.

This would come in handy when the power goes out or on a camping trip.

Take the metal parts with you and you can pick up a box and foil anywhere. You could be baking in minutes.

Thanks for posting an intro; the fact that you have grand-kids gives us an idea about your age & marital status, & your blog speaks of your experience. Great idea! I was wondering what to do with all of these bana boxes that I have, now I know where one of them is going! Do you have anything for a Reflector oven made out of metal, not aluminum foil? :cool2:

Hey Sarge

I have not made a reflector oven in years. It's on my to-do-list.

Getting metal cans & materials nowadays is tough. Everything is &!@#$ Plastic.

I do have some info on making one. Its a PDF file from an old boy scout manual.

I can send it to you if you like.

Good solar cooker plan!

Here's an excellent solar cooking site, with a complete write-up about the subject and recipes. Includes how to make a box-type solar oven.

Another good site:
