There may come a time , hopefully never, but we may be faced with the possibility of consuming foods of a questionable nature. With that in mind, I saw this on CNN and thought I would share it. Gives some general "rules" about how mold effects different foods. Is not all inclusive, but does help a bit.

I am personally going to avoid using this as long as I can, but knowledge is always good to have.

Thanks Pal. There was also a link in there to preserving foods that I think will be extremely helpful.

I have a standing ritual anytime I see mold on food.

1. Pick up moldy food while standing (Hey! It's a standing ritual. Sheeesh)
2. Walk to garbage can.
3. Place food in garbage can while standing.

Easy, simple.

My mom insists on scrapin mold off jelly and just about everything else. I can't do it. Hard cheese I will, but everything else goes in the trash.

See? I know the bad stuff is under the yucky looking stuff. Scraping yucky doesn't remove bad. Tossing it in the garbage does, though.

Rick

When you only go to town every three months, you have a choice, starve or eat what you got, or the worst choice of all....drive 100 miles to Los Anchorage......:)

No they weren't. They were just trying to go around it the wrong way. It's flat like a pizza so if you sail east to west you'll go in a circle. If you sale north or south you'll fall off the earth and be eaten by sea monsters. My cousin knows a guy who's girlfriend has a nephew that it happened to.

A little mold on food isn't going to kill you.
Just eat it!
