PC Problems

I have been reading where alot of you are having PC problems. Ithought this might help ya. I have been running my PC 4 to 5 yrs with no antivirus and have used dial up and cable internet. If it acts up i just restore it to a date that it worked and it straightens right out. Seems like I have done it once a year at the most. I also use an external hardrive. I save most of my files to it instead of my hard drive and it keeps the memory on the PC free which equates to speed! Hope this helps someone.

mmm,, maybe I am a glutton for punishment. Can one or more of you , in laymans language explain what the advantage of a MAC is? I can read all the techie stuff, but prefer plain english

There is no advantage to a MAC if you know how to use a PC :tongue_smilie:

Most people get MACs because they are "SUPER USER FRIENDLY"... and if you need that then get it but realize you have to start all over with learning what you may already know ;) for PCs.

I`m a PC guy and I've used MACs and I won't switch.

The only reason MAC have LESS viruses is because LESS people use them and attackers want the best bang for their attack... it's not that a MAC is virus/hack proof it's that there is MUCH less people out there attempting to do it because there are that many LESS MAC users.

Keep in mind that the majority of MAC users are Pro Gov involvement in ALL aspects of our lives ;)

The difference between a mac and a pc isn't the hardware! It's all in the software. The pc runs on DOS and windows (which Gates ripped off the concept from apple when he worked there) runs dos. So what you have is a program running a program. This leaves a lot of openings for hackers to sneak in virus'. Not to mention the inter face problems of any program trying to run another program. The Mac OS system is right off the bat user friendly so you don't need windows to run your computer.

Hey Mountain Man if you don't like user friendly, try running your computer without windows.....straight dos!

Your post shows how little you know on the subject of PCs. And is pretty darn funny.

DOS and Windows have nothing to do with "sneaking in" a virus... that his hilarious, and newer versions of windows do not run on top of DOS... this goes back years and years.

And for reference... MAC and PC hardware used to be different... this was a relatively recent change.

As far as Gates taking software and using it for himself... I don't know the whole story to comment but I've heard him taking something someone else did then selling it / using it as his own.


As far as me using DOS.. sure I could back in the day when you had to know how to use it to get around.. I also did a wee-bit of programming in QBasic and DOS based applications.

For a "home" operating system I have no problem with windows... I`m on it 5-8 hours a day working, etc. and XP has been stable and great. Vista, blek... don't like it ;) Windows 7 I hear is nice.

Don't take me as a Windows lover... because I'll never program in it or run a server on it but for a home operating system there is nothing wrong with windows as long as the user knows how to use it.

If you've been using Windows for years and years and feel the need to go to MAC then do it ;) Or try it out on a friends PC. I`m just saying there's nothing wrong with windows properly configured and used.

The only advantage to a MAC is usability for newbies or oldies ;) ;)

In my experience, the Mac is much more stable and reliable. I am not interested in arguing why there are more viruses on pc, bottom line there are less viruses on the Mac.

My Mac doesn't freeze up on me, and it manages large files better then the pc I have a work.

If user friendly is wrong, I don't want to be right.

When you add wifi, and an iPhone you can't beat a Mac for home entertainment.
