Charcoal powder will be found a very good thing to give knives a polish.

Jonesy, if Rick were one to FOLLOW THE RULES (he is NOT) he would send a knife, say a K-Bar, and some charcoal powder to Q.C. and Crash and I would post our test results.

I have used a scrap of heavy wool and a paste made from wood ash and charcoal to get a good polish on my musket and bayonet. I couldn't say the polish is ideal but it works. A word of caution, any grit like a grain of sand will mess things up a bit. I used a morter and pestle to grind the ash and charcoal with the water. I attended a rainy event at Yorktown Virginia. I actually saw my musket barrel rust before my eyes. The musket was shiny again by noon.
