Any recommendations for electrolytes, similar to gatorade? I toured the Grand Canyon as a child and I remember some drink that was like gatorade on steroids. Anyhow I have been too hot for too long. Any suggestions?

In the summer I use the powdered gatorade, but mix it 1/2 strength or weaker.

I have used pediolyte (spelling is probably wrong). The stuff for kids. Seemed to replenish a bit quicker without all the sugars. Not sure of the science, but since it is for kids it is easy on the stomache.

First thought was the powdered gatorade. Just now the name of the stuff hit me, I think I was 10 last time I saw the stuff. here is a link.

By the way it was still called Gookinade in '82.

I use a weak gatoraid mix and also take a slug of Super Whey Protein Shot. One of my Dr's put on to the protein shot, it taste better then plain whey.
And the empty containers are great for "stuff" in your kit

When I'm backpacking in the summer, I use the powdered gatorade - but mix it half again stronger than the directions. I'll only do this on days where I'm going 10+ miles, though.

Uh, water. The clear stuff. Full strength, undiluted. If it's hilly I will double it, though.

I've been using "CERA Lyte-70", a rice-based oral electrolyte supplement. I've been happy with it.
