Here's a comparison picture of various calibers.

I've seen em and handled them, but have not fired one. A little pricey, and not too practical IMO. They are obviously trying to appeal to a certain market with the word "survival" (that's not a criticism) so the least they could have done is put the $3 survival blankets in instead of the 50 cent ones (that is a criticism).

No I haven't but it looks like a fine one. My kit resides in one of the same "Pelican waterproof boxes" except it is black. Not sure if they have it in pink!

Sorry Cowboy, I don't think they come in pink, yet. LOL

...But the .460 kit, is yellow.

Guess Pelican don't like pink either. Proof I put my kit in a good box!

So is the barrel that short so you can cook the bear while shooting it?
Gives new meaning to "Flame Broiled"

Believe it or not, I read somewhere that one reason it's short is so that you can wear it with waders.

Ken, to answer your question, I've seen both kits, but only in the display case.......while I was wandering around this gun shop, about an hour and a half, from my house.:innocent:

Waders my ***! what, they never heard of a shoulder holster or a cross body holster???

I've seen the 500 but I hadn't seen the 460. Haven't shot either one. I guess any kit is better than no kit but they sort of perpetuate the idea that the only way out of bear encounter is with a weapon.

Read the description. Last sentence.

...make a great brownie stopper

I guess I didn't realize brownies were all that vicious. I guess I'll have to watch myself during next year's cookie sales. Come to think of it....they do look pretty menacing. Oh, look! A pink brownie!

does the expression
"a waste of money"
mean anything?

such a short barrle for a calibre as this is nonsense.
of course S&W will build them as long as idiotes buy them.

I'm surprised that none of you commented about the gun shop with

over 6000 different firearms on display.

I've never counted them, but I would say that number is probably pretty close!:tongue_smilie:

Why do they carry so few?

I'd rather have a .44mag or even a .357 and know I can place my shot where it counts than the 500... sure you can practice practice practice but you never know if you`ll have 2 hands to use to aim, and damn well gonna be a lot harder to get on target one handed ;)

Seems a bit heavy on gun and light on supplies. For the money, weight, and size I think I could come up with a more comprehensive kit and a can of spray to deal with bears. Add that kit to a 12 ga pump and I think I'd be happier in Alaska. Mac

Haha...I like the way you think!
Pick up a used Moss 500, or a Rem 870, with a sling, and spend the other $1,000 on some real supplies.

I think it's a ridiculous excuse for a hand gun and probably the worst choice in a survival situation... I mean... What if you want to eat a rabbit? If you could hit it with that cannon, what would be left besides a red mist in the air??? and what about ammo? You can carry 10 rounds? Put a ruger PIII or a single six and you can have 1k rounds with it for less weight and eat. and a can of bear spray.
