I saw this in a Mother Earth magazine:
You can use pantie hose to preserve your onions. After each onion tie / put a knot between each onion. Then, use the bottom onion.
They should keep for a year in this way.

I use that method too! I've tried no end of times to make onion plaits and well let's just say onions bounce. so I stick to tights- oops pantyhose!
I always hang on to the woven bags onions come in when I buy them. I keep them in the garage. Then when I pull onions out of the garden I just drop them in one of the spare bags and hang them in the garage. I have a bag with six out there now.
Guys, be very careful here. I can hear it now, "And just where did THOSE pantyhose come from????" :sneaky2:
'Xactly.
"Uh, gee, Fred. When did you start wearing pantyhose?"
"Since my wife found them in the truck."
