...if you were banished from society and given your choice of one and only one firearm with all the shells you could carry away on your back, then which would you choose -rifle, pistol, shotblaster, long or short, hi-power or small bore?
You decide, me myself & I cannot! Whats the consensus? maybe then I can make a choice because this could be a real world scenario for mankind in general one day.

Ruger 10-22. By the way, I have been banished from society. I'm hanging around hoping to be the last man on earth just to see if all the girls really meant what they said.

Let me explain this cowboys thinking, If someone Banishes me, and is Stupid enough to give me one firearm, and all the ammo I can carry...........Guess who is going to be real sorry, real soon.

Rock River AR-15 in 6.8SPC cartridge with a Nightforce 2.5X by 10X F2 luminated reticle 30MM scope.

I agree with Hopeak, any one that stupid deserves what they get.

I have heard some persuasive discussion on this, so I would choose a Springfield M6 Scout 410/.22 lr. Maybe cheating a bit since it is two types ammo.

I think that in old'en days banishment was nearly always fatal.

I thought you sold your Rock River.

I thought you sold your Rock River.

I sold the Rock River LAR-8 which is the AR-10 Platform in 7.62 NATO (.308) It was a wonderful firearm, but a bit heavy once it was fully dressed.

The 6.8 SPC is built on the Lighter AR-15 Platform.

something to get my place back in the pack. preferably a long range bolt action or ar platform. 308 would do just fine.

I have a Savage .308 with scope and bi-pod. Never fired it - it's in "like new" condition. I need to get me some range time. If I could just find a way to get up to Hope's place.........:innocent:

Oh, right, getting even. They moved the cabin with the front end loader while you were asleep. The geese just watched.

My tricked out 10-22, I can keep my shots within a 3 inch circle at 100 yards.

Rick.....They mean it!

Hope have you looked at the 6.5 Grendel as a chambering for the AR?

YES, Many times......but living with Grizzly encounters, I lean towards the 115 Grain FMJ bullet.

I think I'd have to go with the 10/22, also. Not only would it be useful as heck, carrying ammo is a big factor.

I learned a lesson about carrying ammo at a gun show. (Well, sorta.)
I saw a good deal on some ammo, so I bought it.....then I remembered how far away I had parked. It really sucked, having to carry a case (880 rounds) of 7.62x54r any distance, at all.:blushing:

I'd have to go with a Remington 870. With all the different ammo and uses for a shotgun, it's hard to beat.

As far as shotguns go, I lean towards the Mossy 500 series.

So what does the 115gr fmj have over the 120 - 140 grain 6.5 projectiles?

Pict

I'd take an Rem 700 then set up on the edge of town. You give me a rifle I won't be banished for long. Mac

I'm getting some good feed back on this and the 10/22 leads by head and shoulders but the banishment scenario was not meant to be personal but more of a "Red Dawn" aspect?

Well if that is the scenario, then I would take them all and not limit myself to one.

If that's what we're talking about, I'll take my Springfield SOCOM II.

Where I live, I would take my Marlin .22 mag bolt tube fed. Almost the same amount of ammo to carry, but with a lot harder hit. People use it alot in the rimfire season.

So the .22 is it then all say I. If you are invaded and forced to stay to get your cheeze grated or get the chance to dine and dash -what do you do? Thats the glory of net forums, it gives most the chance to feel like men if only for a few seconds!!! Grind'em up & Spit'em out thats the stories I like best(;{o)

Rick
07-16-2009, 07:41 PM
Sort of depends on the circumstances. If it's just me then I dine and dash. No point in getting stomped on for no good reason. If it's me and friends or family, especially if they can't dash, then you just pick your poison and grate some cheese on it. Stay.

Take my 10/22 and maybe pick up something heavier from someone who won't need it.

I was going to say my trusty 10/22 but I`m thinking if I`m banished from all places civilized, but am not being hunted by them then I'd want something lighter and smaller to make my travels easier... Probably a .22LR / .22MAG revolver (with boy cylinders). Could carry a TON more ammo if civilization won't give me more since I'm banished, and it will be a LOT lighter to carry, and I can still bring in food for meals.

If I'm banished but on wheels, or can still get stuff from society... then probably an 870 with ammo on it, and a sling + whatever else I can carry. Slugs, Birdshot, 00, and #4. Should be good.

If it was one that I own, I would probably say my Savage 24V in 30/30 over 20ga. If I really wanted to cheat, I would throw in my 32acp adapter for the 30/30. :)
Although my 10/22 would be tempting to take instead.

22 cal rifle for me too. A well placed 22 is just as good as anything else in most situations.

Flip a coin. 10/22 or .223 AR15. I have good reasons for either. If I was relagated to just one pistol It would be a Ruger Single Six with both LR and Mag ammo or a 4" .357 revolver with both 38 special and Mag ammo.
