FVR, Is it made from a red oak board, like you buy at lowes?

Yup. Lowes or Home Depot red oak board.

The Pyramid design is a very good design for board bows. I have a hickory stave that I was going to make a pyramid out of, but changed my mind after seeing this guys bow. Just alot easier to use a board.

Check out Jawge's site that I keep posting as he tells you how to look for a board to make a bow from. Main concern it to get a board where the grain does not run off the side of the bow. Hickory, you can get away with this a little, not oak. Well unless you back it.

Thanks FVR I will do that. I was leary of cuttin my own, worried it would crack while drying. This looks like a good place to start being it is a first for me.

Cool! Now when picking out a piece of red oak what kind of grain pattern should I look for?

Pancho,

First, go here. http://georgeandjoni.home.comcast.net/~georgeandjoni/archer.html

Read the section on board bows. It will give you what to look for.

Then go to Bow making directions.

I think reading it will be better than if I try to explain it.
