While roaming the woods I carry a pocket watch. Not for directions (though you can use it for that purpose) but for measuring distance in terms of time rather than miles and that's a good reason for me to carry a watch.

I carry a pocket watch because I stop wrist watches something about electro-magnetism?

I wear A Casio G-Shock - they last forever, and if it breaks, time is probably the last of my worries.

I rely on my GPS for time if need be, but I think I can pretty figure out how much daylight is left just from experience.
I like to go into the wilderness and forget about time.

I have a square, gold, Waltham wrist watch, in a holder, on my belt. I have to wind it daily. If I forget to wind it, then it is only accurate 2 times a day.
I have carried this watch for a lot of years. EMP can take out those new fangled ones and the batteries are so hard to replace. When in the Army I was offered a deal on it and have had no reason to change.
