What trees can you identify in the winter by their twig odors or taste?
1) Sassafras= Smells and taste like sassafras. Taste very spicy and has aromatic odor.
2) Magnolias and Tulip Trees= Taste spicy and has aromatic odor.
3) Black and Yellow Birches= Has a very characteristic odor and taste of oil of wintergreen.
4) Many of the cherries= Has a pungent cherry-like or bitter almond-like odor.
5) Red Mulberry= Exudes milky sap and has a sweetish taste.
