Thats a cool video.I can only imagine trying to explain that to the EPO back at the boat ramp."No officer I do not have a fishing licence.I swear they just jumped into the boat".

That's pretty funny. We had a similar incident on Saturday. We were canoeing in Greene-Sullivan when the fishing started jumping like that. I'm sure something was chasing them and none landed in the canoe but it was pretty wild for a few minutes.

i remember one time we went shrimping at turtle mound in new smyrna. i caught a five gallon bucket full.(i had four lobsters also) so when we got back to the dock the fish and game commission guy checked our buckets. let me tell you he didnt believe for a second that those were realy big shrimp. so after pleading and groveling they let me keep the dead lobster, and i had to release the other three. one of them said if that looks like a shrimp the next time ill help you figure it out. (i wonder what he meant)?

Six different times?

Coincidences are amazing, I'll tell ya'. How about MORE than six times? Same defendant. Same charges. Different communities and police departments. Different witnesses. But ALWAYS the same "mistake" on the part of those witnesses. :innocent:

Um, not that I'd ever do this, but I'm told that the hand crank portion of a very old telephone with a wire out each side of the boat will do the same thing in daylight.

Indeed, but they won't be jumping.

i wonder if that could become a method of fishing "shock 'em so they hop into the boat"!!

Rick

If you shock them they will just float to the surface.

I've heard something about asian carp in the Mississippi jumping out of the water at the sound of loud noises, like a motor or smacking the side of an aluminum boat. That's likely what it is. They're a non-native invasive species, so my guess is they're encouraging fisherman to keep as many as they can catch to help keep their population in check. That said, they're carp, which aren't exactly the best eatin' in the world.

Carp is actually pretty good eating and pretty easy to prepare. You can fillet them just like any other fish then remove the dark red line (some folks call it a mud line) from the meat. Once that is done you need to score the meat almost through the fillet about every 1/8 inch or so. You'll hear the tiny bone snap as you cut through it. You'll wind up with a very nice white flesh that you can fry into a nice meal.

Check the net. You'll find tons of recipes for carp. A lot of folks eat carp.

It's called a TASER. Once they are mid-air above the boat, just point'n'shoot...

Oh yeah - $45 dollar Taser cartridge for each 50 cent fish........just sayin.

Um, no I was refering to some people I ah.. um..once heard about, yeah, thats it...
On a tributary into the Mississippi, catfish would float up in shock (no pun intended) but some would litterally just leap in the air out onto the banks to get away from the shock.

That video was the predecessor to shooting fish in a barrel.

I'll bet they edited out the part.....
What did ya shoot Bob in the head for?

Well shoot - I wasn't aiming at him, but did you see the size of that fish that jumped in front of him?
