I have to tell you guys, the guy who wrote that article had no practical knowledge. You can not catch beaver with light wire. All the other information was the generic stuff you get from any survival book.

If you want to trap correctly use real trapping snares, conibear or other professional traps.

If I travel into the woods, I always carry a few large and 6 medium snares. They work.

Check-out Buckshot’s camp. He is a great trapper and knows a lot about wilderness survival.

It's pretty good info, but Geoff is right about beaver, they're tough buggers. The thing I always find about these articles is that they make the work appear way too easy and someone who's lost in a wilderness environment is going to have to deal with a lot of extra stress when they keep coming up with empty traps.

People who trap for a living work hard at it all day, and if there's any wolves or coyotes around you better check your traps early, or they'll check them for you.
