Roughing it with your own grid?

I was aimlessly clicking through Stumbleupon and found this little gem.

While it's a good idea, it's impractical. It must weigh 60+ pounds, and from the looks of it is not compact at all.

But then again good products come from crappy concepts.

The concept is kind of interesting, and for an extended off-grid experience it may be kind of neat. The photovoltaic fabric, if developed and improved will have applications well beyond using it in a tent.
