I know you roughty toughty guys might think this silly but my broody has just left the nest with 8 chicks:clap:
As they are meat birds I have christmas, and quite a few other dinners sorted.
I would post pics, but I don't know whether you could handle the explicit cuteness.:innocent:

We're always up for cuteness. Truth be told - we're all just a bunch of softies anyway. When I first started reading your post a went What?!?!? but then realized you said broody. :)

...and just to explain my earlier comment - We’ve talked about the nuances of the English language, separated by an ocean - I first read it as booty (only on my third cup of coffee).

It worked just fine. It's called a thumbnail. Just put your cursor on the picture and click the left button on your mouse one time - you'll like ther results. Great picture by the way....and yes the picture involves explicit cuteness.

I see they are in a pen. Is that just because of the chicks or do they normally stay in a pen. The way you've described your location I thought your chickens might be free range.

The chicks are in a pen because I've got sparrowhawks nesting in a tree at the back of the garden and jackdaws (a type of corvid) nesting in one of the chimneys and a chick would make a very nice snack for either. Then there's the red kites that patrol the skies.
The girls however pootle about the garden free range and spend many a happy hour trashing the flower beds!
