I normally wear steel toe 8" RedWings and still blouse mine, old habit on an ATV or walking. I wore them for years and only buy those or Carolina. I used electrical tape when I was employed(not working Rick).

Yep - one of the reasons I wear BDU's while out in the woods. Of course, around here for at least half the year shorts and bug spray are the norm.

You might also consider puttees. They are nothing more that strips of cloth wrapped around the ankle. The were extensively used in WWI and covered from ankle to knee but you certainly don't have to use anything that long. These in the picture are wool held in place by strips of cotton tied at the top.
