this looks easier than the bow. but then again, i saw it done on Bear's show.

i've tried it, but i only got the same result as when i use the fire plow, lots of smoke but no ember, and really tired arms. need more practice. thats why my mag. flint stick is my number one right now...

i tried it at work for about thirty minutes on lunch break and it wore me out... same thing, lots of smoke, no embers

U all seem almost survival experts so i assume that you watch survivorman. I was just sorta wondering if anybody knows what those chemicals are that he mixes together and they just go up in flame?

Glycerin and potassium permanganate (KMNO4). Potassium permanganate is a strong oxidizing agent and glycerin is an easily oxidized substance. Make an indention in the potassium permanganate and place a couple of drops of glycerin in the depression. You don't have to use a lot to get an exothermic reaction. Oh, yea, stand back after you drop the glycerin in.

Here's a tutorial on the fire saw. I haven't tried it but it looks like some practice would be well in order before you needed it.
