With simple preparation, Sea Vegetables (commonly referred to as "seaweed") are a delicious variation from the much more common "land vegetables" we generally see on our tables.
I've often thought that one of the best locations for wilderness survival would be along a coastal region, perhaps in the State of Maine. If you're near most coastal waters, an abundant and often ignored food supply can be foraged in the form of sea vegetables. Here's a good site with plenty of information about sea vegetables. If you scroll down the left-hand column, under "labels," many of the links will take you to a specific sea vegetable edible which could be incorporated in your diet, together with any fish or shellfish which could be harvested in the area.

Add a hand-powered desalinator (available from Katadyn: http://www.katadyn.com/usen/katadyn-products/products/katadynshopconnect/katadyn-desalinators/) and you have yet another option for wilderness survival.
