beef hearts

anyone ever cook/eat this i found some yesterday and at 4.75 for that big boy sure was tempting

Been a long time since we slaughter our own cows and eat the hearts not bad tasting

If I remember we cooked it like a roast.

I have eaten it boiled,was pretty good that way,but a bit chewy like a chicken gizzard. Have not had it roasted.

I have roasted beef hearts, with a bread dressing in an oven sack. Wash well under running water, pat dry, season to taste. Either use a oven sack or a very tight lidded roaster. Moist is the answer.
Heart has a soft spongy texture that solidifies somewhat with cooking. It has good taste, but I have trouble with the texture. Onions, garlic, carrots, parsnips all go well with the meat.

Beef Kidney, Broiled? Yep, REALLY loved it. :drool:

Beef hearts? Tried 'em once. Neither the taste nor the texture was all that great. I'd rather eat at McDonald's :pinch: if I had a choice. :innocent:

Well reading this thread just soured my coffee. Beef hearts. Bleeeeck! Why not just pour some buttermilk over it while you're at it. Double Bleeeeeck!!!!!

it is tough the only way i have eaten it is chopped up into tiny pieces and cooked into gravy. its good that way.

Like Sarky said, pan fried with onions, garlic and mushrooms, we also add some sesame seed oil in the frying pan.
We eat the heart, liver of all our game if in good condition.
