i'm a complete noob. i'd like to go practice and use my tools and stuff.

where would a good place be? i live in the Washington DC metro area. don't know of too many places where people won't call the cops on me due to looking real suspicious doing something like this in a small park.

i was thinking about one of the hiking trails in the Shenandoah. i remember our group trying to take a shortcut in one of the trails and we got lost in the woods and rocks for at least 2 hours (due to the difficult terrain).

maybe i can cut into the woods again and start trying to build a shelter, etc. probably shouldn't make a fire. well, maybe a little one?

Go West Young Man.

Western Maryland that is. Place is beautiful, nat'l forest, trout streams and rivers, deer, bear, all kinds of critters. Had a friend many many years ago who managed to get a 99 year lease on a cabin on state property. Only had to keep it up.
