After doing much research (2-3 WEEKS of research) I decided on a one man tent/bivvy shelter. The two tents I was debating between was the Eureka Solotaire and Academy's No Limits one man tent. Some reviews say that Eureka's quality has been slipping so I decided to go with Academy's. I actually got free, it was my graduation present (8th grade). Today I set it up. The material seems very durable. The zippers don't snag. Setup was pretty easy once I figured it out. I figure I could have it up in 2 minutes without the fly. I'll be trying it out tonight to give you some pictures and field results! Tonight lows will be in the mid 40's with a 10 mph wind. I'll be using a 30 degree bag. Talk to you tonight! If the durability is good, this will be a great tent for me!
There is nothing better than new toys. Good luck with the tent and don't call us asking for help because you can't find your way out!

That's what large knives are for matthew...you can always take it back to Acadamey and tell 'em "It had this big rip in it when I set it up!"

The tent worked beautifully... my sleeping bag did not... It only got down to 50 tonight and I was shivering in the 30 degree bag. I have one funny story to tell. There was a bank robbery in my little town today, and the perp is still at large. Well, we have a dog who coughs. When he coughs it sounds JUST EXACTLY like a person. I was asleep and his coughing woke me up. The first thought I had was that the bank robber was hiding somewhere near me. Once I get a better bag I'm going for it again!
Yeah, dogs can be such a pain. He probably coughs like that just to mess with you. I'll bet he's laughing behind your back.

Did you use a ground pad?
More importantly, did you put down a perimeter of "Alpine Sapper tanglefoot" to protect against the bank robber?

The funny thing about that dog (who's a HUGE pit bull) was my brother's. He asked my Dad, "Would you please keep him for me for two weeks?" Well that was almost three years ago... When we first got him he had been abused. (We kept him in a large chain link dog fence), and if you would so much as tap that fence he would go NUTS. He still don't like kids to much, but most everybody can get wooled around by him.

yeah, that little thin sheet of canvas is not really good insulation. conductive heat loss is a *****.

 My brother did the same thing about 25 years ago. He came home from Germany with a Rottweiler that his wife wasn't too crazy about. Asked Mom and Dad to keep her for two weeks while he transitioned to Ft. Ord.
She was a beautiful huge dog with a documented lineage that went back well over 200 years. He had trained her with the German Military Police. Fully grown, she went 145 lbs. - all solid - and was named "Thunder." We tried to breed her a few times with different breeders - the males were all afraid to go near her.
Mom and Dad had that dog for 10 years ........
