I know how you feel, I just got my new RAT-7 the other day, and I absolutely love it. It was worth the wait for sure.

Sounds like an interesting knife my friend, you have fun with that. I have a large collection of them, about... fifteen total, I got four bowies, three survivals, one ka-bar, a kuhkuri, some kunai knives, and my good ol' bamboo longbow. Nice 40 pound pull on a four-foot longbow. I also own katanas and kusarigama, but that's not wilderness survival stuff unless you're planning on going camping with a sickle with a chain and a ball on the end... which I know I don't plan on it... lol

... You don't take your weapons to practice with when you go out? That's one of the ways I pass the time. I carry shuriken, kunai's, 'chucks, etc. not all at once usually, but I usually have a couple ranged weapons and one or two CQC weapons on me at all times. Not that I carry a katana with me, cause, ya know, I'd have to stick some smart *** for making a crack about a toothpick for a bear, but I do like the Timberwolf full tang as an alternative machete if the brush isn't too dense. Doesn't make a good chopper though.

Not really, I don't like swinging and training with the kusarigama when I'm out in the woods, I'm afraid I'm gonna smack someone in the back of the head or get the darned thing wrapped around a tree branch and have to climb the tree. I tend to spend more time practicing with my weapons in my own backyard, that way I don't gotta worry about screwing up and messing up the weapons quality. I bring my kunai sometimes, and occasionally my throwers SIDE NOTE: (my kunai are too big for throwing, one's 8 inch and one's a foot) anyways, I do sometimes, but not all the time.

and oh, yes!, I've seen that sword many-a-time when I was shopping 'round for new ones. In fact, I was just shopping today and I found a ka-bar model knife for twenty bucks actually. Either I'm hallucinating or just plain lucky as hell, as soon as I get some cash I'm making the purchase on this

hmm...I've always believed in training in adverse conditions to ensure that you can operate in the environment if required. As well, I keep several of each of my throwing/hand to hand weapons so that I have one that's not nicked/scratched/dented/used and the others, well, I'm gonna put it through it's paces as often as I possibly can to ensure it is going to hold up. If normal use in a standard environment is going to degrade the quality that much then I want a better quality version of the weapon. But I collect weapons so buying two or three of everything has never bothered me. :)

The only drawback I have with the knock-off KaBar is I can't find a reference to what type of tang it has on the website. I've bought knives that didn't specify before and ALWAYS had it start falling apart soon. Just a heads up, but if you do buy that kbar let us know how robust it is.

tools that hold up to regular use are desireable. my camillus hunter is a good one. leather pommel , extra thick.

Yeah, I will for sure, but at the same time, if you look-up the Ka-Bar knives on that same website, they look the exact same, yet it never specifies their tang either... I'm not quite sure either way. It looks like a good knife, but I probably won't get it for another few weeks, I got insurance to worry about and since I don't have a job at the moment I can't afford anything really :(

I have the Sog and it is outstanding the sheath is sweet too and I too had a blind horse knife catch my eye I purchased the small tiger knap just because of the look and price and must say it is a nice little knife very handy and looks a bit more custom then most knives.

They are great knives and LT and Dan are great guys to deal with too. I have tested a couple of their knives for them and have been nothing but impressed. I had a patch knife for myself and my wife took a liking to it and took it away from me. I also have a Tiger that she does not know about, she is not taking that one from me. :) Anyway if you watch their site they have these knives as a monthly special from time to time. Like I said these guys are really good folks. They have their on forum on Knifeforums if you want to read more about them.
