Ok, so, from Mac's pics about the tramontina bolo, I found this pic;
A shot of the Tramontina bolo alongside a Busse Battle Mistress (middle) and a Patrol machete from Camillus (top) :

While I'd love to have all three, I found the Bolo online for $6 (out of stock) and $20 + shipping.
I started looking for the Busse battle mistress. Apparently Busse knives only makes one blade style at the moment, at least according to what's available on the site. It's the Boss HG55, probably the UGLIEST blade I've seen in a while. I hate the design.
Sooo, Anybody know where I might be able to come by a busse battle mistress? I'll also take a reliable site for a bolo if you have on... :)
EDIT: Somewhere OTHER than the $550 one here;

i dont think you will be able to find a battle mistress for much less than that. scrap yard knife co. which uses left over knife stock from busse makes a knife similar to that called the dog father and son of dog father. you should be able to find one between 200 and 300 dollars.

Yessir. Been drooling over scrapyard knives ever since an argument in a thread here about the dumpster mutt. I haven't seen a knife from scrapyard I wouldn't own.

Ron Hood used to plug them but since has turned to another company. I don't remember there name right off but you can check out "Hood's Woods" & track down the company. I believe they ran somewhere around $350!:cool2:

A.S. try bladeforum for the Busse, but tonester is right, less then $550.00 is gonna be hard.
Sarge, I think, it's TOPS knives. Although he has many custom knifemakers on his site.

Thanks. I think it's going to be hopeless though if they are all in the $500 price range. I just can't justify spending that on a knife, no matter how good, when I can get a much cheaper one that will hold up and perform just as well, or make one. I can spend that 5 bills on a new Springfield XD, or a new deer rifle, more ammo, etc. etc.
*sigh* maybe someone will hook me up for Xmas...think I need to show those and the Dogfather to my wife... :)

i have been hooked on the stone knives for years, every time i find one it fuels my desire to find another one! i have a good collection of steel knives too. one of them is a solengen messen bein (bone handled) curve blade. the stag horn grips are fitted to the fingers,super comfortable,super thick, and balanced like a throwing knife.

My girlfriend thinks I'm crazy. I've got over one hundred, no way I can use them all, but I can't stop.
Well at least it's not drugs, or is it?:innocent:
