View Full Version : Camping this weekend
I'm in a private club at a natural hot springs camp ground where we go swimming all year round. The hot springs has a lot of minerals in it and is supposed to be healthy for you. Anyway on arrival Friday they had power supply problems and there wasn't going to have power this weekend, so when I get setup everyone was crying about no power (I was not prepared, I left all of my cry towels home ), I said what are you going to do during a power outage on a cold night? what are you going to do if we have an earthquake or some sort of emergency situation where you have to leave such as a hazardous spill that requires evacuation or what ever? He!! I said so far the only thing I have experienced is a cold night without no power, being I keep the propane tanks and the battery's full all the time and a solar battery charger I just go out to the trailer and read a book. Don't you people go into the mountains to get away from everything? All left with there nose stuck up in the air except one and we BS ed for a while about the power and I told him that I have food, water, and shelter and I'm happy, he said he was going to leave tomorrow. The next day I noticed that he was still there and looking at me in a competitive look and I laughed and told the wife that I think hes trying to compete with me. We loaded up and as we was leaving I grinned and said to the wife, He won but at least he stuck it out.
My plane A is the camp trailer for an emergency but the trailer is next to the house and might not make it during an earthquake so I have a plane B that is a BOB.

Electricity while camping?! Blasphemy!!!
I like to do that, too. I just hate draggin' that really long extension cord from the house around.

I am hoping to get my tent and head to the mountains within the next couple of weeks. I am also hoping to do some Trout fishing also.
I spent 40yrs in a tent camping and one day the wife said its time to upgrade and I said yes dear.
I'm not whipped, I just do what I'm told the first time:)

Yes ma'am...
I'm surprised at you guys. The man is the head of the household. Ya'll just need to take charge and put your foot down. And remember, when all else fails, play dead.

"head of House leaves the tail wide open(and my wife does stand behind me).
Man does too but it's usually to give me a shove.

When car camping I bring a big deepcycle and 2 inverters. I like music and that way I can bring an amp and some speakers... Certainly can live without it though. And, I do have a small genny...

That's what power inverters are for...then it's only the noise of the blender....umm...Margaritas....*drool*
But you are gonna ruin'em if you put 'em in the blender.
Nothing better than a hot texas night under the stars, some thinly sliced skirt steak on the grill with some peppers and onions, a pineapple cut and soaking in lime juice and dusted with paprika, and an ice cold picture(s) of patron margarita's...

I have found I don't even have to be in Texas to enjoy a good margarita *yum*
I also don't need a radio, that's what I've got my oldest daughter for. She sings and plays guitar and sounds better than anything on American Idol. She usually gets paid for performances, but I'll just let the entertainment be one of her camp chores :D

The dear wife likes them blended. I prefer the booze in a shotglass... As for Idol... My dog sings better...

If I ever have the chance to show up at one of the forum meet's I'll whip out the grill and throw down on some fajita's.

Hoosierarcher was making the plans. He had a poll up to figure out which weekend would work best.
Here’s the thread with the poll in it. Go ahead and vote if you think you might be able to make it. http://www.wilderness-survival.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6492
