Hello there. I have been lurking around this site for quite some time and finally registered last year. There seems to be a lot of good info on here and some pretty knowledgeable members. I am a paramedic by trade but actually have been working as a tactical medic for a few different local departments as well as a state agency. I noticed a few LEOs on the site as well, which is nice to see. I wish more would get involved, but that's another discussion.
I was in the army as an 11B (self propelled pop-up target) I've spent years hiking and backpacking in the Sierras while growing up out West, and that's about the only thing I miss about Ca. I now live in PA in the heart of Amish country which has been interesting.

Hello and welcome. Thank you for your service. I know there is a great deal of difference between the terminology that the Army and Navy use, but you were a self propelled pop-up target? Sounds dangerous. I'll bet there is a lot that can be learned living in the middle of Amish country. Again, welcome.

Welcome from Alaska. I was raised in PA. Amish country, In fact our school, was all Amish accept my brother and myself. The school had no indoor plumbing. One teacher taught first and second grade on the first floor, and one teacher taught third and fourth on the second floor. The "Mature" older boy's were given the honor for a week of burning the trash in the burn barrel in the play yard. There was a wood stove on the first floor for heat. No air conditioning. It was a good time to be young in America. :)
Welcome to the Forum. Thank you for serving our nation.

Thanks for the welcome. Sorry about the comment above, "self propelled pop-up target" was a euphemism for infantry, at least back in the '90's when I served. I was a SAW (M249) gunner. Force of habit.

No need for apologies. I'm just a little slow on the uptake sometimes.
