It may seem strange that I'm posting on a forum titled "Wilderness Survival" what with me living in the city. Let me explain:
In the spirit of openness and honesty I'll admit that I am a reformed liberal. Forgive me. It takes one to know one and because of that I've realized that 'free thinking' liberals are some of the most closed minded people on the planet, and I'm surrounded by them here. To me being a free thinker means not being a member of the herd, and accepting the fact that others are also free to think whatever they want, even if their views are diametrically opposed to my own.
It all boils down to common sense, and I seek like minded people who possess this. I no longer discriminate against others as I used to do on the basis of their politics, religion, or the color of their STATE. Nowadays some of my BFFs are people I would have made rude comments about using words such as 'redneck', 'Jesus freak' , 'pro-lifer' and 'NRA member'.
I stumbled across this site looking for news, as I no longer have cable TV (by choice). And what a novel experience it has been, people with common sense at last.
I'm 35, I stay at home with my toddler, my husband owns a small design/marketing firm in LA. We live sensibly, within our means, which has allowed me the luxury of being here to witness all of my son's 'firsts', and to connect with like minded people while he naps.
Lastly, my dream is to get out of the city and move to the country.
